Muottas Muragl - a must-see!

Muottas Muragl gehört während eines Aufenthaltes im Engadin zu dem absoluten „Muss man gesehen haben“. Wanderfreudige Menschen können den Pfad nach Muottas Muragl nehmen (ca. 2 Stunden). Als Alternative bietet sich die Standseilbahn an (welche während den Betriebszeiten in der Sommer- und Wintersaison bis 23.00 Uhr läuft – Tipp: Sonnenuntergang geniessen). Bereits die steile Fahrt in der roten Bahn ist ein Erlebnis. Muottas Muragl (2‘453 m.ü.M.) bietet eines der besten Panoramas welches man im Engadin haben kann. Ein Rund-um Blick eröffnet die Aussicht über St. Moritz, die Engadiner Berge, die Seen, Val Roseg und das eindrückliche Bernina-Massiv.

Wenn Sie schon auf Muottas Muragl sind, sollten Sie möglichst auch gleich noch eine kleine Wanderung in Angriff nehmen. Die Wanderung auf die Segantini-Hütte auf 2‘730 m.ü.M. und weiter zur Alp Languard (2‘330 m.ü.M.) bietet eine noch spektakulärere Aussicht. Diese Wanderung dauert ca. 3 ½ Stunden und ist teilweise ziemlich anspruchsvoll (3 Stellen sind mit Seilen gesichert).

Die Segantini-Hütte, welche Wirkungsort des weltberühmten Malers Giovanni Segantini war, lädt zum Verweilen ein.

Alternativ gibt es einen einfachen Höhenweg der unterhalb der oben beschriebenen Variante verläuft. Die Wanderzeit beträgt ca. 2 ½ Stunden.

Auf der Alp Languard angekommen, können Sie zwischen der Fahrt im Sessellift oder einem Wanderweg nach Pontresina wählen.

During your stay in the Engadin the place called Muottas Muragl is an absolute „must-see“. If you love hiking you might take the trail up to Muottas Muragl which takes about 2 hours. As an alternative you may go up with the cable car (which is running until 11.00 pm during summer and winter season – advice: enjoy the sunset). The steep journey with the red cable car is already an experience. Muottas Muragl (2’453 m ASL) offers one of the best panoramic views that you can have in the Engadin. An all-around look opens the breathtaking view over St. Moritz, the mountains, the lakes, the Roseg Valley and the impressive Bernina Massif.

When you’re already on Muottas Muragl, you almost have to take a short hike. The hike to the Segantini Hut (2’730 m ASL) and to the Alp Languard (2’330 m ASL) offers an even more spectacular view. This hike takes about 3 ½ hours and is partly pretty ambitious (3 narrow passes made safe with fixed cables). The Segantini Hut, which was working place of the world famous painter Giovanni Segantini, is the perfect place to take a break.

As an alternative you could take an easier alpine path, which leads below the variation described (Segantini Hut). The hiking time is about 2 ½ hours.

When you arrive at Alp Languard you can choose between a chairlift or a trail back to Pontresina.
